「 観世音菩薩普門品 」 と絵画： その５

訳文：
無盡意さん、観世音菩薩には、このような力があるのです。もし、観世音菩薩を恭敬し礼拝する人があれば、福徳を損なうことはありません。そのゆえ、みなさんは誰しも、観世音菩薩の名前を心にしっかりと保つべきなのです。
ところで、無盡意さん、もし、ある人がガンジス川の砂の 62億倍もある無数の菩薩の名前を持ち、また、命が尽きるまで、食べ物・衣服・寝具・医薬で供養するとします。あなたは、この良家の男性、もしくは女性の功徳は多いと思いますか？ 少ないと思いますか？」
無盡意は「とても多いのだと思います。お釈迦さま」と答えました。
これに、仏さまは言われました。「もし、また、別の人があって、観世音菩薩の名前を心に刻みつけ、ほんの、ひとときだけ礼拝供養するとしますね。ところが、この二人の福は全く同じであり相違は無いのです。双方の福は百千万億劫の時間を経ても消え去ることはありません。 無盡意さん、観世音菩薩の名前を心に刻みつけていれば、このような限りなき福徳の利を受けられるのですよ」 |

読み下し文：
無盡意、観世音菩薩、かくの如きの力 有り。もし、衆生ありて、観世音菩薩を恭敬礼拝せば、福、唐捐
（とうえん）
ならず。この故に衆生、皆、まさに観世音菩薩の名号を受持すべし。 無盡意、もし人ありて、六十二億 恒河沙
（ごうがしゃ）
の菩薩の名字を受持し、また、形を尽すまで、飲食
（おんじき）
・衣服（えぶく）
・臥具・医薬を供養せば、汝が意において云何？ この善男子・善女人の功徳、多きや否や？」 無盡意、言
（もう）
さく。「甚だ多し、世尊」
仏、言（のたま）
わく。「もし、また人有りて、観世音菩薩の名号を受持し、乃至一時も礼拝供養せば、この二人の福、正に等しく、異なること無し。
百千万億劫におても、窮め尽くすべからず。
無盡意、観世音菩薩の名号を受持せば、かくの如き無量無辺の福徳の利を得ん」
白文：
無盡意 観世音菩薩 有如是力若有衆生 恭敬礼拜 観世音菩薩 福不唐捐
是故衆生 皆応受持 観世音菩薩名号 無盡意 若有人 受持 六十二億 恒河沙 菩薩名字
復尽形 供養 飲食 衣服 臥具 医薬
於汝意云何 是善男子 善女人 功徳多不 無盡意言 甚多 世尊 仏言 若復有人 受持 観世音菩薩名号
乃至一時 礼拜供養 是二人福 正等無異
於百千万億劫 不可窮尽
無盡意 受持 観世音菩薩名号
得如是 無量無辺 福徳之利
English:
Mr. Akshayamati,
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
has such power. If anyone reverently respects and worships
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
that person's good fortune. Therefore, everyone should keep the name
of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
suppose someone has 6.2 billion times as many Bodhisattva names
as the sands of the Ganges River, and make offerings of food, clothes,
couches, medicine, etc., until the end of his or her life.
Do you think the merits of this good family man or woman
are lot or not ? "
Akshayamati said, "I think it is very much".
The Buddha replied.

it will not harmthat person's good fortune. Therefore, everyone should keep the name
of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara

firmly in mind.
By the way, Mr. Akshayamati, suppose someone has 6.2 billion times as many Bodhisattva names
as the sands of the Ganges River, and make offerings of food, clothes,
couches, medicine, etc., until the end of his or her life.
Do you think the merits of this good family man or woman
are lot or not ? "
If there is one more person who has the name of
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
heart, but worships and makes offerings to him only for a moment,
the blessings of these two people are exactly the same; there is
no difference. Both blessings will never disappear even after
a million ten million or billion years.
Mr. Akshayamati, if you keep the name of
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
you will receive such unlimited blessedness.

engraved in his or herheart, but worships and makes offerings to him only for a moment,
the blessings of these two people are exactly the same; there is
no difference. Both blessings will never disappear even after
a million ten million or billion years.
Mr. Akshayamati, if you keep the name of
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara

in your heart,you will receive such unlimited blessedness.
