dropping his robe over his right shoulder,
join his hands in prayer towards the Buddha, and asked,
"Buddha, excuse me,
why is Bodhisattva Mahâsattva Avalokitesvara
called 'Avalokitesvara
The Buddha told Bodhisattva Mahâsattva Akshayamati.

' ? "
" Yes, young man of good family,
There are too many many living beings, each with
their own suffering problems. If they call this
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
he will immediately hear their voices and release them from their worries.
If anyone hears the name of this
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
he or she will not be burned by the fire,
even if he or she enters a great fire.
This is because the power of this Bodhisattva is great.
And even if anyone is swallowed and swept away by great waters
if he or she chant the name of this Bodhisattva, he or she will be able
to move to shallower waters immediately. Suppose there were many people who went out on the ocean
in search of treasures such as gold, silver, lapis lazuli, tridacninae,
agates, coral, amber, pearls and others,
and the ship was cast away on an island of Rakshashis (an evil spirit)
by a vehement, untimely gale.
But if even one of them claims to
the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
all of these them will be able to escape the difficulties of the demons.
This is why the name " Avalokitesvara
is used. Also, when someone is about to be killed, if he or she implores
Bodhisattva Mahâsattva Avalokitesvara
the swords of the executioners will be broken one after another,
and that person will be saved. There are many many Yakshas and Rakshasa (evil spirits)
in this universe. When they come and try to annoy people,
if they hear the people implore the name of
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
they will not be able to see with their evil eyes,
nor will they be able to harm people. If someone, guilty or innocent, is shackled and chained,
and if he or she chants the name of the
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
all will be destroyed and instantly freed. There are many wicked bandits and robbers in this vast land.
Suppose a merchant master is leading a caravan carrying treasures,
as they are just passing a dangerous valley, One of them chants,
"Namu, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
By chanting this name, they were immediately liberated. Mr. Akshayamati, such is the wonderful power of the
Bodhisattva Mahâsattva Avalokitesvara
has such great divine power to give us abundant benefits.
Therefore, people should always keep the name in mind. If a woman wants to have a baby boy,
she should adore Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
then she will give birth to a virtuous and wise boy.
If a woman wants to have a baby girl,
she should adore Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
then she will give birth to a beautiful and pure girl who has
acquired virtues in her previous life, and will be loved by all. Mr. Akshayamati, Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
has such power. If anyone reverently respects and worships
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
that person's good fortune. Therefore, everyone should keep the name
of Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
suppose someone has 6.2 billion times as many Bodhisattva names
as the sands of the Ganges River, and make offerings of food, clothes,
couches, medicine, etc., until the end of his or her life.
Do you think the merits of this good family man or woman
are lot or not ? "
Akshayamati said, "I think it is very much".
The Buddha replied.
There are too many many living beings, each with
their own suffering problems. If they call this
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
( kanzeon/ Guan Shi Yin )
with all their hearts,
he will immediately hear their voices and release them from their worries.
If anyone hears the name of this
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
( kanzeon/ Guan Shi Yin )
in his or her heart,he or she will not be burned by the fire,
even if he or she enters a great fire.
This is because the power of this Bodhisattva is great.

robbers come, we will be able to escape."

Among many people,
One who is a greedy person, if the one always remembers and
reverently honors Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
the one can leave that greed.
One who is an angry person, if the one always remembers and
reverently honors Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
the one can also leave that anger.
If one is a complainer, if the one constantly remembers and
reverently honors Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
the one can also leave that complaint.

in your heart,you will receive such unlimited blessedness.
Again the Bodhisattva Mahâsattva Akshayamati asked the Buddha.
"How does

this human world and how does he preach the Dharma(law) to people ?
What is the power of the Dharma tools that he uses ?"
The Buddha told Bodhisattva Mahâsattva Akshayamati

"Young man of good family, in this vast land,
For those who should be enlightened as Buddhas,
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
the form of Buddhas and preaches the Dharma for them.
For those who should be enlightened as Pratyeka=buddhas,
he takes on the form of Pratyeka=buddhas and preaches the Dharma for them.
For those who should be enlightened as Shravakas,
he takes on the form of Shravakas and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Brahmanas,
he takes on the form of Brahmanas and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Shakras,
he takes on the form of Shakras and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Ishvaras,
he takes on the form of Ishvaras and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Maheśvaras,
he takes on the form of Maheśvaras and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Heavenly Generals,
he takes on the form of Heavenly Generals and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Vaisravinas,
he takes on the form of Vaisravinas and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Minor kings,
he takes on the form of Minor kings and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Chief griha-patis,
he takes on the form of Chief griha-patis and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Griha-patis,
he takes on the form of Griha-patis and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Viziers,
he takes on the form of Viziers and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Brahmanas,
he takes on the form of Brahmanas and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Bhikkhus, Bhikkhunis,
Yupa-bodhisattvas, and Yupa-i, he preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as women of Chief griha-patis,
Griha-patis, Viziers, Brahmanas,
he takes on the women form of them and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as boys or girls,
he takes on the form of boys or girls and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as the Devas, Nagas, Yakshas,
Gandharvas, Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas etc..
such as non-humans,
he takes on the form of them and preaches the Dharma
for them. For those who should be enlightened as Vajira-dharas,
he takes on the form of Vajira-dharas and preaches the Dharma
for them. Mr. Akshayamati,
this Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara
these merits, appears throughout the land in various forms so that
people may attain enlightenment. Therefore, you should make offerings
to Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
and soul. This Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara
help you not to be afraid when you are in great difficulties.
That is why he is called 'the one who gives fearlessness' in this world."
The Bodhisattva Akshayamati said to the Buddha,

takes onthe form of Buddhas and preaches the Dharma for them.
For those who should be enlightened as Pratyeka=buddhas,
he takes on the form of Pratyeka=buddhas and preaches the Dharma for them.
For those who should be enlightened as Shravakas,
he takes on the form of Shravakas and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Brahmanas,
he takes on the form of Brahmanas and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Shakras,
he takes on the form of Shakras and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Ishvaras,
he takes on the form of Ishvaras and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Maheśvaras,
he takes on the form of Maheśvaras and preaches the Dharma for them. For those who should be enlightened as Heavenly Generals,

willhelp you not to be afraid when you are in great difficulties.

"Buddha, I am now making offerings to

"Honored one, please accept this rare jeweled robe of Dharma alms."

the four sentient beings, the Devas, Nagas, Yakshas, Gandharvas,
Asuras, Garudas, Kinnaras, Mahoragas etc.. such as non-humans."

and received the jewels, then he divided it into two parts, and offered
one part to Buddha Sakyamuni and the other part to the Taho stupa.

such free and unlimited divine power and play in the world of these people."

"Dear Buddha, you have a good countenance, now I ask you again.

The Buddha of good countenance replied Bodhisattva AkshayamatiFor what reason, is Avalokitesvara

Avalokitesvara's
to all things in the universe. His vast vows are as deep as the ocean and will never end.
He has served many hundreds of billions of Buddhas then has initiated
the Great Purifying Desire to save people from their troubles. I will give you a brief outline. Hearing his name and seeing his form and
if you do not pass away in vain, you will be able to eliminate all afflictions. Even if you are thrown into a volcanic pit by a wicked enemy
with intent to killing you,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
the volcanic pit will turn into a pool of water. Even if you are adrift in the ocean and attacked by marine monsters
or other demons,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
you will not drown in the waves. Even if you are push off from the top of Mount Sumeru
by a wicked enemy with intent to killing you,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
your body will float in the air like the sun. Even if you are chased by a wicked enemy with intent to
killing you, and are about to be thrown off a rock on Mount Kongo,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
not even a hair of your head will be lost. Even if you are surrounded by terrible bandits who will slay you
with their swords,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
they will immediately become mercy. Even if you face the king's judgment and are about to be executed,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
their swords will be broken to pieces. Even if you happens to be fettered in shackles of wood or iron,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
you will be freed immediately. Even if you are being cursed and harmed by various poisons,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
the curse will returen to the person who did it. Even if you are surrounded by Goblins, poisonous Nagas,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
they shall not be able to hurt you. Even if you are attacked by fearsome beasts with sharp teeth and claws,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
they shall quickly run away in all directions. Even if you are surrounded by poisonous snakes, pit vipers,
or scorpions attack you, spitting venom like fire,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
they will go away on its own. Even if thunder rumbles, lightning strikes, and hailstorms fall,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
it will calm down after a while. When people who are beset with many hundreds of troubles
and afflicted by many sorrows,
powerful knowledge of Avalokitesvara
all beings from there suffering. He has the divine power and by widely practicing the Dharma of Wisdom,
he appear in all directions and in all regions of the world. He is able to save us from all kinds of evils, hell demons, and can
extinguish the suffering of birth, aging, sickness, and death. He has the wisdom of true, pure, and expansive view,
and the compassionate view in the view of mercy.
That is why we always adore him and always pray to him. There is the light of purity, the bright sun that breaks through
the darkness, and he quenches the winds and fires of calamity and
brightly illuminates the world at large. The ethicss of compassion tremble like thunder,
and the compassionate precepts are like great clouds that pour down
the nectar of the Dharma rain on the earth.
That extinguish the flame of worldly desires. When you are punished by the government through lawsuits, or
when you are trembling in the midst of a military camp,
you shoud remind the power of Avalokitesvara
all your grudges will be dissipated. The supreme voice of Avalokitesvara
and the oceanic sound of Brahma,
these are superior to all sounds of the world.
For this reason, people should always keep the name in their mind. Never, never doubt. Avalokitesvara
He is the one you can count on in times of suffering, death, and misfortune. He has all the merits and virtues and looks at people with compassionate
eyes. The ocean of blessedness is limitless.
That is why we should pay homage to him.

That is why we should pay homage to him.
At that moment, Bodhisattva Daranidhara stood up, stepped forward
and said to the Buddha.
"Dear Buddha, who has heard of this free and unlimited saving
power of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara
his divine power to transform himself into various forms
should know that those merits are great !"
When Buddha preached this Sutra, all 84,000 people were inspiredpower of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara
